The river Lot
It’s the region’s must-see river, the Lot, a fishing destination that promises great catches. The 2nd category river is rich in carp that can reach 30 kg, white fish and carnivorous fish (pike, zander, catfish, black-bass…).
The Célé
The main tributary of the Lot, the Célé, also known for its Via Ferrata course, is a multiple Lot fishing spot. Classed 1st category and rich in trout upstream of Figeac, it then passes into 2nd category. It’s a paradise for gudgeon, chub, vandoise, barbel… and other species.
The Dordogne
This ultra-fishy river is an angler’s dream. Its cool, oxygenated waters are home to magnificent trout. The Dordogne also attracts pike and perch to its backwaters, as well as carp and a variety of whitefish. In the Dordogne Valley, you’ll also love the Ségala, Xaintrie and Causse streams.

Cahors
The ideal fishing spot is close to the Moulin de Coty on the Lot loop, a 2.5 km-long“Parcours Pêche Passion” (Passion Fishing Trail) that runs all the way to Pont Valentré. Carp, pike-perch, black-bass and other species (barbel, roach, bleak, gudgeon, chub, tench, etc.) can be caught from one of the 20 stations. You’ll also be able to catch no-kill pike measuring over 1m!
Saint-Cirq-Lapopie
This magnificent no-kill carp spot on the Lot at Tour-de-Faure will delight anglers at any time of day or night. The setting, enhanced by the medieval village set against the cliff, makes for an unforgettable trip.
Lac de Saint-Sernin (Montcuq)
Pike, pike-perch, black-bass, perch, trout, carp and other fish can be found in great numbers on the 4.3 ha of this 2nd category lake, which has been awarded the“Parcours pêche famille” and “Handipêche” labels. The fishing spots at Le Surgié, Etang de Laumel… you’ll be spoilt for choice in this department, which boasts some thirty fish lakes!
Moulin de Guiral ponds
This fishing spot in the Lot is accessible to all without a license or equipment, and is in fact a fish farm.
Carp, trout and roach in profusion!
Also head for Le Vers, renowned for its wealth of wild trout, with the best spots upstream.
You can also enjoy no-kill carp fishing on the Lot at Saint-Géry.
